This is given - Good Things Happen to Bad !

Guys, my second post and its already getting serious.
(Pardon my unstructured style of writing... I am just penning down every little thing that is hitting my mind.)

This was the topic given to me in a communication training.

"GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THE BAD"

Well, good things don't happen to bad; rather they make good things happen for themselves.
Infact, everybody is responsible for his/her happiness. But the question is -

"To what extent are u willing to stoop down, to make things work for u?"

Most of us are bound by our virtues, taught to us in school, given to us as free advice at various point in our lives - honesty, discipline, truthfulness, blah ... blah...

Everybody has a different perception of the right and the wrong. This reminds me of an argument I had with a friend of mine. He wanted to take leave for a period of 5 days, to attend a friends marriage. But, was doubtful if the manager would allow him. I suggested that that he could tell, "Its my brother's marriage". He turned it down saying, "That'll be lying". But after a some thinking or I don't' what was going on his mind he thought he would say that it is his cousin's marriage. Now was this not a lie? According to him it was not exactly a lie, because his friend was as good as a brother to him.

The point to note, however, is that we come across everyday in our lives, people having their own policies, principles and virtues. But if you look, closely most of them are silent believers of

"The only thing I can't resist is - Temptation".

I believe that the crude reality is -

"People alter their virtues, principle etc according to their
convenience."

Thats the hard fact nobody want to come to terms with. And this is what keeps the good things happen again and again for the so-called bad.

Why I call them "so-called bad" is related to another thought that I often think about - "Patriotism". So Mr. Reader ! (yes, u only. The one who is reading this now) "Are you PATRIOTIC?"

Some diversion ... What is patriotism? According to the dictionary - "Its love for one country ... "
So do you love this country? If your answer is a yes, then may I ask - What makes you love this country? Consider that you had been born and raised in a totally different country say, "XYZ"; you would be patriotic towards that country. If thats what it is then would you like this country (my) less.

We take the national pledge... "I am proud of its rich and varied heritage...". How many of us really do think of all this in the given 24hours of our everyday life?

The truth is - in our 24 hours everyday, we sleep long hours (because our body demands it), go to our respective workplaces (because we need money), meet our friends (because we need to feel secure, have our own bit of fun, and not be left alone), travel to and fro between home and work (cos we have a lot of work to do at both these places) and eat a lot (because we need to survive) and over this period of eating, we need a topic to discuss, which is everything related to this country. It could be india's cricket match; the politics; the film industry; the share markets; the scams; the media .... and this is where we decide who is good , who is bad; this is where we form our opinions.

Now who really knows what this good or bad person is doing in his/her personal life. Mr. Sachin Tendulkar would be busy chatting with his wife; the tatas and the birlas will be busy signing important deals; the politicians will be having a feast in their luxurious homes...

And when someone questions us, "Are you patriotic?" Our answer pops up in unison ,"YES".

I don't say patriotism is non-existent. Yes it does exist, but only with those people who have not got things the way they wanted, they may not have got justice, so they start a revolution. This is how most strikes, processions, rallys happen. You and I, never join such things because it does not concern us. So it is really a matter of "concern". The day something starts bothering us, we start to feel the need to change things, with the unconscious motive of alleviating our own problems.

The world may or may not praise you for the sacrifices you made... and even if it did after your death, how does it concern you. You are dead and gone, and the dead don't feel; they don't receive the awards, the medals, the praises thrown in the media. So enjoy life while you are living. Live the way you want to.

I would love to write more, and I surely will, but for now I will let you guys digest this.

Remember..
"Its still a jungle out there. Survival of the fittest is what works.
Selfishness is not bad.It is just potrayed bad by people who want to control you,
exploit your innocent m
ind.
Wake up !!!"

rahul,
tis is totally my opinion as to how i took ur message... it has nothin to do wit u acceptin it or not..
i actually got a little lost by the time i reached the end, probably because u could not stick to the topic.. the mood or the message u were tryin to convey was wavery n bleak.. too much of a diversion too..
the thing that u conveyed stickin to the topic(or rather i perceived it that way)was when u said that persons wit temptations(the so called bad ones) got good things happenin to them... tis let in a small thought process in me..
thats it yaar.. good luck.. god bless..

Rahul I interpreted that like people allude discussing abt news abt the nation to patriotism, people allude the little lies and wrongs that we do to the bad. Good thought!!!

I feel that not everyone is selfish always. It is like the male and female pieces of any joint one has to fit into the other. Likewise you get to be selfish because someone else was magnanimous. After all Life is a zero sum game. If we understand that then happiness is ours.

Hey Rahul,
Your thoughts may be different from others ,but the truth is reflected in your thought(however to some extent).
Being selfish is being human, but I don't always agree to it. We have somebody called as the Almighty who makes the judgement at the right time. It is said that fake success does not last long. So dude believe in your self and the Almighty and you will find success and happiness,And also many good friends to share it with.

This is for you Rahul,
"MY WILL SHALL SHAPE THE FUTURE. WHETHER I SUCCEED OR FAIL SHALL BE NO MANS DOING BUT MY OWN. I AM THE FORCE; I CAN CLEAR ANY OBSTACLE BEFORE ME OR I CAN BE LOST IN THE MAZE. MY CHOICE; MY RESPONSIBILITY; WIN OR LOSE; ONLY I HOLD THE KEY TO MY DESTINY"

So as I said just believe in yourself my friend :-)

God Bless

hi dude ;)
nice read, wot uve ritten.
any creature, including man, when born, is born with a purpose to live out its own life. and for this very purpose, it/he comes equipped with many diff kinds ov qualities.
u hav to live ur own life for your own self's sake. nobody else will live it for u, n even if they could, then wots the point in u living at all?? ;)
everyone is selfish.
the very fact that ur breathing air that could be used by someone else, shows that ur selfish. if someone actually considers themself not to be selfish, then they should stop feasting on the limited resources of food water n air n let others enjoy it peacefully...
im sure no one will do that, will they? ;)
im selfish
im happy im selfish
im happy i go out of my way to keep my life happy for me,
but delfy not at the cost of hurting or encroaching on someone elses space on earth [let it be in any form].
as long as im selfish, i know i have taken responsibility for my life, n that im not being a burden on others.
as long as i am selfish, i know im completing myself.
and only when im complete, i can contribute to others.
as long as im selfish, i know im taking care of myself.
as long as im selfish, i know that, just the way i was born into my life, im living my life, n will be happy when i die my own life too....

oh, n if u still havnt figured who this is, then....... keep thinkin!!
thehehheee...

also, man is to himslef, n everything else is xternal. planets, continents, countries, races, religions, communities, societies, states, cities, areas, groups, n even families, r very very xternal. theyr just created by man coz he feels more secure bout himself when in groups. its all just an illusion. likewise, patriotism too. live ur life, be accountable to your own copnscience, n nothing else matters.
peace!

Rahul,

It took some timefor my eyes to asdjust to this very bright screen! apologies for any typos.

I did read thru ur second topic. Frankly, I think you went offtrack somewhere in between, which is not something very nice in a communication training class. :-)

And about the topic itself-"good things happen to bad people"; can we by any means define this? All the good, bad and ugly are only personal judgements. As far as human tendency goes you have written very well about how manipulative man can be and how easily all of us yield to temptation. What one considers an opportunity may be a waste of time for another - again personal judgement. And this varies.

How can we ever be sure that a person is bad? Simple example - Politics. If we comsider a politician a bad person, why do people have adulation for him/her? Sycophancy excluded. Rivals/opponents also have a fan following. So can we define them as "Good Vs Bad" or something else on those lines? who would be what?

The whole thing is very obscure and lies in the eye of the beholder. Therefore to say that good things happen to bad people, in my opinion, would be prejudiced and lacks a premise. Although if I have to go by the definitions of Ancient Dharma I would have to say it does happen - but in the end, Good conquers.

Cheers!
